PPE
Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) at Castle Donington College prepares pupils for facing the issues of the modern world. Pupils will study various religious and philosophical approaches to the challenges of life, in both the UK and wider world. Pupils will also gain an understanding of politics in Britain and on a global level. PPE will also see pupils understand the basics of how the economy functions.
PPE combines the previous subjects of Religious Education (RE) and Citizenship. It focuses on the practical application of the ideas and concepts pupil study and how it affects people’s lives around the world. PPE helps develop pupils sense of citizenship, as well as critical thinking and understanding diverse perspectives.
Pupils receive two lessons of PPE per fortnight as part of the Humanities curriculum. Pupils are taught in mixed ability tutor groups, and teacher expertise and adaptive resources are used to effectively support, stretch and challenge all pupils.
PPE is also delivered at KS4 as part of the PSHE curriculum. Pupils are taught in mixed ability tutor groups, and adaptive materials have been created for tutors to teach during PSHE.
