All pupils in year 10 and 11 at Castle Donington College study English (language and literature), mathematics, science and non-examined PE.
In addition, each pupil chooses four option subjects. One of these options needs to be Geography, History, French or Spanish. Pupils can also opt to take more than one of these subjects.
Pupils make their option choices in the spring term of year 9. The courses currently available to pupils are:
Cambridge National Level 2: Child Development, Information Technology
Year 9 students will be given the opportunity to prepare for their choices through various activities and events during the Spring Term. This includes an assembly and option evening event (29th January 2026). Our Head of Year 9 and year 9 tutor team will be available to provide guidance throughout this process alongside subject teachers.
Below you will find a short video explaining this year's options process along with video presentations for each of the Option Subjects.
Student will all receive a physical copy of the Option booklet but there is also a digital version of this available below.
For further information on the options process, please contact - Mr M. Elks, Assistant Principal.
